Summer Activities for the Children

Come along to Whitburn Library this summer for a host of activities to keep the children entertained.

We are working alongside South Tyneside Council to offer the Summer Reading Challenge, which has a Space theme this year.  To complement this we have:

Thursday 9th August –  Make a Planet Bookmark

Thursday 16th August – Make a Flying Rocket

All activities £1 per child with all funds raised going towards the maintenance of the library

In addition to the usual crafts and Lego associated with the Summer Reading Challenge, this year we are also hosting a display containing the interactive map in the book series ‘Lily, Windy and the Witch’, from the Angel of the North in Gateshead to Herd Groyne Lighthouse in South Shields.  This trail runs straight past Whitburn Library and we are delighted that the author of the book, Yvonne Carlin-Page has agreed to be our Author in Residence and will be providing activities linked to the story throughout the summer.
