National Storytelling Week

Did you know that it is national storytelling week from 1st-8th February?

To celebrate this, after school this week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon between 15:45 and 16:45 we will be having FREE drop in storytelling sessions.  Come along and enjoy a story, join the library if you haven’t already and there will be an activity for the children to do as well!

Cinema in the Library

We are thrilled to announce that we are being supported by the National Lottery Community Fund to create a cinema in the library. We have received funding through the National Lottery “Awards for all” scheme which means we can shortly screen films.

We have a Cinema Group working hard to ensure this enterprise is a success and we encourage you to support the library and come along to screenings on Tuesday evenings. There are plans to introduce a Saturday family screening in the near future. Watch out for further details , we need your support.

Our screening license prevents us from advertising the titles of the films out-with the library.  We are going to rely upon word of mouth.  We are hoping this will create an intimate, community atmosphere, with a maximum of 50 tickets available for each screening at a fraction of the price of the big cinemas, with all income going towards sustaining the community library.

To keep up to date with the film schedule, call into the library, check the notice board at the front of the library or check out our website at

Baby Bounce gets a make-over!

Due to low numbers attending our baby bounce and story tots sessions, we have decided to combine the two into a “Wriggle, Rhyme and Story Time”.

This will be a session aimed at babies, toddlers and their carers lasting about half an hour and include all kinds of nursery rhymes, songs and stories suitable for 0-3 year olds.

These sessions will be adapted to the age of children attending.  If the session becomes popular, we can always look to introduce more sessions guided by the needs of the community.

To ensure these sessions continue, please bring along your children/grandchildren and support the activities.  They are a great way to introduce the next generation to the importance of reading, books and libraries
